One of my favourites from the long awaited 9th Radiohead Album, A Moon Shaped Pool. The album on a whole feels like a fresh start for the band, suggested by the deletion of all social media content before the record’s release. The album has been extremely well received, Thom Yorke describes it as “goes beyond me and you”. Folk is a central reference on Desert Island Disk. In the mournful hymn on the album, Thom sings “The wind rushing ‘round my open heart/An open ravine/In my spirit white.” juxtaposing Amnesiac’s Pyramid Song messages of death, here he is “totally alive”. A melancholic exploration on what is one of Radiohead’s sonically pleasing and elegant records.
