Boss of Yappin Records and Offenbach-based producer DJ Slyngshot, may have aimed to keep his name a secret, but he cannot control the rate at which his name is growing. Slyngshot originally promoted himself by putting his records and tapes out through his website, but now people have really started to open their eyes to what he is putting out, an arrangement of gems, and Ain’t Got No Time is no exception. Slyngshot’s tracks surprisingly enough can be found on the flipside, alongside versions by record distributor and Japanese music fanatic, Japan Blues, which I highly recommend giving a listen. The arrangement of Slyngshot’s sound on O Town is an unusual one – blurred synth lines and confused drumwork, with a delayed kick that comes in and out of the foreground throughout the tracks duration. O Town adopts an almost drunk sounding hip hop and lo fi hybrid, but gives a unique and refreshing sound none the less. A track that always gets me moving.
